Benefits of ADD treatmentsPlenty
of ADD treatments are available today. People can go for one of the
ADD treatments that they think will be effective enough in curing the
ADD symptoms. Few unique ADD treatments that have shown good results
in the removal of ADD symptoms include psychotropic medications, psychosocial
interventions, dietary management, herbal and homeopathic remedies,
biofeedback, meditation, and perception stimulation/training. Each of
these ADD treatments have its own unique benefits and advantages. Of
these ADD treatments, most research has been done on stimulant medications
and psychosocial interventions. The results of most of the studies suggest
that ADD treatments that use stimulants are superior to the ADD treatments
involving psychosocial interventions.
ADD treatments
also deploy some of the psychosocial therapeutic techniques which include
contingency management and cognitive-behavioral treatment which involves
self monitoring, verbal self instruction, problem solving strategies,
and self reinforcement. Some of the other psychosocial therapeutic techniques
that ADD treatments deploy include parent counseling and individual
psychotherapy. Studies have shown that cognitive-behavioral techniques
used for ADD treatments tends not to yield beneficial effects for children
with ADD, whereas contingency management and parent counseling measures
for ADD treatments have proven to improve functioning.
