About Asthma, its Symptoms and Treatment InformationAsthma is defined as a chronic lung condition characterized by difficulty in breathing. The airways in individuals suffering due to asthma are extra sensitive or hyper responsive. Whenever the airways get irritated, it reacts to the irritation by narrowing or obstructing air flow. Due to this, the movement of air in and out of the airways becomes difficult.
Genetic factors are considered to be one of the important causes, as asthma tends to run in families. Environmental factors are considered to be one of the other major causes of asthma, due to exposure to dust, tobacco smoke, and other pollutants in the air. Dietary changes is considered to be one of the other major causes of asthma, as too much of processed foods, a higher salt intake, a lower antioxidant intake and a lack of fresh oily fish can contribute to the development of asthma. Lack of exercise and occupational exposure in adults whose workplace can have irritants such as chemicals, dusts, and gases are considered some of the other causes of asthma. Some
of the common asthma symptoms include wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath,
and tightness in the chest. Treatment need to be taken whenever these symptoms
are noticed to prevent it from getting worse. Some of the severe symptoms of asthma
include difficulty talking or concentrating, shortness of breath while walking,
shallow and fast or slower than usual breathing, and hunched shoulders. Nasal
flaring, the inward movement of the neck area and the area between or below the
ribs while breathing and gray or bluish tint around the mouth skin are some of
the other severe symptoms of asthma.
