Some colic infants may be allergic to cow’s milk, as a protein in the milk of cows is suspected to cause the symptoms. The immature nervous system of the colic infants is considered one of the other causes of symptoms.Colic infants should not be given gas promoting food items such as beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radishes, eggs, onions, and green peppers, as this may worsen the symptoms.

In addition, the colic infants should not be given dairy products, citrus fruits, chocolate, tomatoes, caffeine containing items such as coffee, tea and sodas, and seafood, as these items are also considered to worsen the symptoms. Colic infants can be given gripe water which is one of the medications containing natural ingredients that helps relieve excessive gas trapped in the intestines and avoids painful cramps.
