Some Self-help Measures for Thrush TreatmentThere is
no specific thrush treatment available till date for curing oral thrush
in infants, as the oral thrush generally resolves on its own within
two weeks. Oral thrush treatment in adults is performed in two different
ways. One method of oral thrush treatment in adults is to improve the
immune system's ability to function. The other method of oral thrush
treatment in adults is to directly treat the infection. In this method
of oral thrush treatment, a topical antifungal agent such as nystatin,
clotrimazole, or miconazole is commonly used. These medications used
in oral thrush treatment in the form of mouth washes or troches which
are lozenges that you suck on, are usually continued for 5 to 10 days.
When these medications used in oral thrush treatment do not work, a single dose of an oral medication is usually prescribed. Stronger medications such as ketoconazole or fluconazole are used for oral thrush treatment, if the infection has spread throughout your body or you have HIV/AIDS. There are plenty of medications used in vaginal thrush treatment that can be got without a doctors prescription. Clotrimazole is one of the commonly used drugs in vaginal thrush treatment, which is inserted in the vagina either as a cream using an applicator or in the form of a pessary. Fluconazole is an oral medication used in vaginal thrush treatment, for severe cases of recurrent vaginal thrush. All topical antifungal products can be used during pregnancy as part of thrush treatment, but oral medications are not recommended. Now let us see some of the self-help measures that can be used as part of thrush treatment, for speedy recovery. Washing the vaginal area with water alone without using perfumed soaps, vaginal deodorants or douches is one of the measures that play a major role in any vaginal thrush treatment. Avoiding the use of latex condoms, spermicidal creams and lubricants if they cause irritation is one of the other measures that help thrush treatment. Changing tampons frequently or using sanitary towels is one of the other measures that help thrush treatment. Wearing cotton underwear and loose-fitting clothes is one of the other measures that helps provide a comfortable feeling and as a result contributes to thrush treatment. An antifungal cream is usually prescribed for the breastfeeding mother as part of oral thrush treatment, which needs to be applied to the nipples to prevent infection from the baby's mouth.
