simplex virus causes cold sores to appear on the skin in the form of
blisters. These blisters are also called fever blisters. These blisters
are filled with clear or cloudy fluid. There are lots of medication
for cold sores available in the market. Most of these medication for
cold sores can be used from home itself. There are two types of herpes
simplex virus that causes cold sores. Medication for cold sores are
available for the infections caused by by both the virus. There are
lots of drugs that are available as a part of the medication for cold
sores. Lots of home remedies are available as a part of the medication
for cold sores. The herpes simplex virus causes blisters either on the
uppper part of the body or on the lower part of the body. Mouth is the
most affected part if the blisters are to appear on the upper part of
the body. The virus that causes blisters on the upper part of the body
is called HSV1.
Acidophilus
capsules, aloe juice, a mix of camphor and spirits, cornstarch, lemon
balm, herbs like chapparal, topical ointments or creams which contain
more zinc are the most commonly used medication for cold sores. Topical
ointments or creams that contain high zinc if used during the initial
outbreak of cold sores, would help to reduce the duration of the cold
sores. Dimethyl sufoxide and herbs like Lomatium are also among the
commonly used medication for cold sores.
