Medications for Curing EczemaTreatment methods deployed for curing eczema are usually based on certain criterions. One of the criterions that determine the method of treatment to be used for curing eczema is the type and severity of eczema present in the individual. One of the other criterions that determine the method of treatment to be used for curing eczema is the age, and health condition of the individual.
History of previous treatments of the individual is one of the other criterions that help decide on the method of treatment for curing eczema. The primary goal of any treatment for curing eczema is to relieve the discomfort by controlling the signs and symptoms. Most of the treatments used for curing eczema include topical steroids and non-steroidal medications. Topical steroids used for curing eczema are available in various strengths. Hydorcortisone cream is one of the widely used topical steroids for curing eczema, that is very mild and can be used on the face. Stronger and super-potent steroids such as such as Cutivate, Dermatop, Elocon, and 0.1% Triamcinolone, can be used for curing eczema only with a prescription. These stronger and super-potent steroids used for curing eczema can cause side effects such as skin thinning and stretch marks when used for longer period of time in the same place. Immunomodulators or steroid-free topical medications such as Elidel and Protopic, are widely used for curing eczema. These medications that are mild in nature are effective in curing eczema and can be applied to all the affected areas, including the face. These medications used for curing eczema do not work as quickly as topical steroids and can take up to four to six weeks time to show better results. Antihistamines such as Benadryl or Atarax, are one of the other type of medications commonly used for curing eczema. Cold compresses are also used sometimes for curing eczema. The cold compresses help control the scratching whenever the skin itches.
