Halitosis is normally caused by the bacteria that is released from unclean mouth. This bacteria is released from the food particles that stay in the mouth, between the teeth etc. Lack or oral hygiene with respect to the teeth, mouth or tongue is the most common cause of halitosis. Other severe causes might also be due to some diseases like diabetes, dental infections, hypertension, gastrointestinal problems and others. Dehydration that is caused by severe exercises or from certain medication can also cause halitosis and in these cases the best form of fighting halitosis is to keep oneself well hydrated by taking a lot of fluids
Halitosis can cause social problems with people. During interaction with others in parties or work place people tend to be affected by bad breath. It is not easy for the person suffering from halitosis to detect the breath by himself, but rather in most cases it is noted and pointed out by others. This can cause embarrassing situations, but it is better to take it in stride and work on fighting halitosis and preventing it from recurring.
