Heartburn Treatment Heart RemediesSome people
suspect the painful and irritating sensation caused by heartburn as
mild heart attack. It is when their physician confirms it as heartburn
they realize that they need to seek a remedy for it. When neglected
it leads to serious conditions known as the GERD or the gastro esophageal
reflux disease
The easiest way to get rid of heartburn is to modify ones lifestyle and food habits. By avoiding the food items that cause heartburn, you keep it at bay. Avoid alcohol, aerated drinks and drinks like coffee and tea that are rich in caffeine. Caffeine and alcohol increases the acids in the stomach, which looses the lower esophageal sphincter, which in turn allows the acids from the stomach to the esophagus causing acid reflux and heartburn. Smoking
causes the LES to relax which loosens the stomach muscles causing acidity
and heartburn. So it is best avoided as it not only averts heartburn
abut also protects your lungs. Foods rich in fat, spicy foods, fried foods take time to digest putting a lot of pressure on the stomach, which in turn puts pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter that allows the acids to leak hence resulting in acid reflux and heartburn. Eat small and frequent meals, which can avert heartburn. Never lie down immediately after having a meal. Maintain an upright position for at least two hours after having food. Keep the head raised while sleeping to avoid heartburn. When you find that even after following the above-mentioned lifestyle, you do not get relief from heartburn then it is time you visited a physician who will suggest medications or surgery according to the severity of the condition.
