Different Methods to Heal HerpesHerpes is a name of a disease that causes sores or blisters to appear on the skin. These sores can appear on the mouth or on the genital parts of a human. If the sores appear on the mouth and around the nostrils, they are called as cold sores or oral herpes. If they appear on the genital parts they are called as genital herpes.
Medications like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir and Famciclovir are used to heal herpes. The medicine acyclovir is available as pills, ointment and intravenous formulations to heal herpes. For persons who are immuno deficient, valacyclovir is used. If these drugs are not effective to heal herpes, it means that the virus that causes herpes has developed resistance to these drugs and hence an alternative medicine has to be tried out to heal herpes. The medicine foscarnet is used in such cases to heal herpes. Foscarnet should be used under the supervision of a doctor to heal herpes. Dimethylsulphoxide is applied over the sores caused by HSV as a part of the treatment to heal herpes. A mixture of spirit and camphor is also applied over the sores using a cotton ball as a home treatment for herpes. Application of ice cubes to avoid spreading of the virus is also a practiced method to control herpes spreading in our body. Hence it is left to the patient to choose the right treatment that suits his body to heal herpes.
