List of Immune Deficiency DiseasesImmune deficiency diseases are of two types. They are primary and acquired. The primary immune deficiency diseases are those that are inherited and the acquired immune deficiency diseases are those that are caused due to infections and other medications that are used to treat certain cancers.
This is one of the immune deficiency diseases that are called the DiGeorge syndrome. One such disease called the Chediak-Higashi syndrome involves the inability of the neutrophils to function as phagocytes. Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) is one of the immune deficiency diseases. This is a serious disorder which is caused by the lack of B and T lymphocytes. This lack of lymphocytes makes it impossible for the immune system to fight against any infections. What we have seen so far are immune deficiency diseases that are primary which means they are inherited. There are other types of immune deficiency diseases which are acquired. One of the acquired immune deficiency diseases is caused by a virus called HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). This virus causes AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) which destroys the immune system of our body. People with AIDS would lose the ability to fight against the infections slowly and steadily. You can avoid having HIV by not having sexual intercourse with an infected person. You should also avoid using contaminated needles. Immunosuppressant medications may also be the reason for having immunodeficiencies.
