Nail fungus are tiny organisms[ Tinea Unguium]. This condition is also known as Onychomycosis. The fungus lives under the nail. The nail provides a safe place for the fungus growth as fungus likes dark and wet places.

The fungus makes the nail to become red and irritated. There is mild discomfort, itchiness, and pain .. Bleeding or detachment of the cuticles may occur. The nail can become discolored[yellow-green, dark yellow-brown]. We should try not to repair nail enamel daily .We must watch out for signs of nail infection, including redness, pain or pus. . Nail polishes cause the skin under them to stay wet. This makes them more open to infection. Artificial nails if applied ,destroy the underlying nail. The use of artificial nails has been known to contribute to the development of fungal infection of the fingernails. There are few medicines available, when they are applied over the nail , kill the nail fungus.

Distilled Vinegar- Applied topically. Vinegar is 5% acetic acid. It arrests fungal growth. Oil of Oregano-we have to apply it on the infected nail twice per day . Tea Tree Oil-Tea Tree Oil is a product of a species of tree [ Melaleuca Alternifolia] . By spreading it on the infected toenail, the fungus can be eliminated .Pau d'arco and Goldenseal-The use of both of these mixed together also eliminates toe nail fungus. The berberine containing herbs -they work topically as antifungal.

The green hulls of black walnut - this is an excellent antifungal but stain the skin black.
