Pain in the throat, difficulty in swallowing the food, infection of the tonsils, headache and fever are some of the symptoms that you can look for in a person affected by strep throat infection. Apart from these symptoms children may experience vomiting and pain in the abdomen. These symptoms may be due to other diseases also hence it is better to consult your doctor and do a proper diagnosis before coming to a conclusion that these symptoms are due to strep throat infection.
It is also possible for some people to spread the bacterial to other without getting themselves affected by streptococcus. Such people are usually called carriers of streptococcus. Spreading to others could be airborne when a person affected sneezes or coughs up. It is also possible to contract these bacterial when they touch objects that have bacteria like utensils and objects in kitchen and bathrooms. If fever lasts for more than two days in children it is better to consult your doctor as this might be due to a strep throat infection in them.
If sore
throat is there without any cold then you have to contact your doctor
immediately to get diagnosed for strep throat infection. Rashes, headaches,
and joint pains are also symptoms of strep throat infections. Any difficulty
in swallowing your food is also to be attended to immediately. Diagnosis
is done through throat culture, rapid antigen test, and rapid DNA test.
These tests done are to diagnose the presence of the bacteria that causes
strep throat infection. If the strep throat infection is not treated
properly it might lead to tonsillitis, sinusitis, ear infections, and
scarlet fever. Rheumatic fever and kidney inflammation may be there
if strep throat infection is not treated promptly.
