Simple methods for curing motion sicknessAs we know very well, prevention is better than cure; the following prophylactic measures may be adopted for curing motion sickness. Move your head as little as possible while you be in travel.
Try to keep your head still by pressing it into a headrest. Head movement can increase motion sickness. During an extended flight, eat small meals and drink small amounts of fluids either before or during a flight to help reduce nausea and vomiting. When you fly, request a seat near the wings. The motion sickness patients should be medicated very carefully since the medicaments may cause drowsiness and impaired hearing. Normally the ship crew members, astronauts, pilots and individuals in any other occupation where being alert is essential should not be medicated for motion sickness. Dimenhydrinate, a proven motion sickness medicament should be taken every 4 to 8 hours by the patients of motion sickness; side effects ranges from dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness and disorientation. Scopolamine is the widely used medicine for curing motion sickness. This is available in patches and being placed behind the ear 6 to 8 hours before travel. The effect will long last for 3 days. This will also produce side effects such as droopiness, blurred vision, stupor, perplexity and incordination. Meclizine is one of the most effective medicines when it is taken one hour before travel and is not recommended for children below 12 years old. Cyclizine is the most effective when taken at least 30 minutes before travel; not recommended for children younger than 6.
