Other changes that can help treat and prevent constipation include drinking enough water and other liquids such as fruit and vegetable juices and clear soups, engaging in daily exercise, and reserving enough time to have a bowel movement.

In addition, the urge to have a bowel movement should not be ignored. Fruits, vegetables, and grains contain fructooligosaccharides(FOS), a compound that helps to feed the good bacteria in your colon. Without an adequate supply of FOS, good bacteria will dwindle and bad bacteria will flourish. Eat fruits throughout the day but especially in the evening. This will help to promote a bowel movement in the morning. Using fruits to relieve or clear constipation is a powerful natural remedy. Eat fruits every day and between meals and you will relieve your constipation.
