Effective Herbal Remedy for High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension is dangerous if levels are raised for any extended period of time. Learn how to keep your blood sugar levels under control for optimum health. Here we can find some proven herbal remedies for controlling high blood pressure.

Mix juice of onion and pure honey in equal quantity. Taken two spoons of this mixture once a day is an effective remedy for high blood pressure. Take for about a week. Upon noticing improvement, take for few more days as needed. Onion juice reduces cholesterol and works as a tonic for nervous system. It cleans blood, helps digestive system, cures insomnia and regulates the heart action. Honey soothes the nerves and is also helpful in lowering the high blood pressure.

Hawthorn is a very well known heart herbal tonic in traditional herbal medicine. It has been used in Europe and China for centuries as a folk remedy. It is believed to decrease blood pressure, increase heart muscle contraction, increase blood flow to the heart muscle, and decrease heart rate. There is more evidence supporting the use of hawthorn for congestive heart failure. For blood pressure, hawthorn is believed to seldom be enough to make a significant difference. A typical dose of hawthorn is 100 to 300 mg three times a day of a dose standardized to contain about 2 to 3% flavonoids or 18 to 20% procyanidins. The full effect takes several weeks to months to develop.

Take four leaves of Basil and two leaves of Neem (Margosa) and grind them with four spoons of water. Take this ground mixture empty stomach with a glass of water.

Eat on empty stomach one Papita (Papaya) everyday for one month. Do not take anything after this for at least two hours.
Garlic appears to lower blood pressure by 5% to 10%. It can also lower cholesterol, reduce triglyceride levels, discourage clot formation, and promote blood circulation. A typical dose of garlic is 900 mg of garlic powder per day. This dosage is also recommended for lowering high cholesterol.

Celery and its oil have been used in oriental folk medicine for centuries to treat high blood pressure and circulatory problems, and now the West may know why. University of Chicago researchers have found that a compound in the vegetable helps lower blood pressure by relaxing muscles lining the arteries. This allows the muscles that regulate blood pressure to dilate.

Indian gooseberry is also very effective in controlling high blood pressure. Watermelon also safeguards against high blood pressure. The seeds of watermelon also can be dried and roasted and taken in liberal amounts.
Lemon is also very effective food in controlling high blood pressure. It helps in maintaining capillary fragility. Grapefruit is also being useful in preventing high blood pressure.

Boiled potatoes are very valuable in lowering high B.P. Boiled potatoes absorb very little salt and thus are very useful. Potatoes are rich in Potassium and not sodium salts and magnesium present in potato is also beneficial.

Parsley is very useful in high blood pressure. It helps maintain the blood vessels .Parsley can be taken as a beverage by simmering 20gms of fresh parsley leaves gently in 250 ml of water for a few minutes. Drink this several times a day.

Raw vegetable juices, especially carrot and spinach juices, taken separately or in combination, are also beneficial in the treatment of high B.P If taken in combination, 300 ml of carrot juice and 200 ml of spinach juice should be mixed to make 500 ml and taken daily.If taken separately, one glass should be taken twice daily, morning and evening. Keep clean potable water in a copper urn overnight. Drink a glass early morning.

Other herbs used in controlling high blood pressure are linden (blossom), wood betony (leaves, flowers) tincture, infusion yarrow (leaves, flowers). Add 15 g. of any one of the herbs to 500 ml water for an infusion or take up to 2.5 ml tincture 3 times a day.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables; cold-water fish such as salmon, tuna, herring, mackerel and halibut for their beneficial omega-3 fatty acid; onions; celery; and whole grains.
