Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Help

People suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder are overly focused on orderliness and perfection. They avoid working in teams, believing others to be too careless or incompetent.

Due to fear of making decisions, they will avoid making decisions and are seldom generous with their time and money. They found difficult in expressing emotion. Apart from their family, these people require help from the society also. Mental Help Net Staff- is an organization in US helping the people who are suffering from anxiety and also mental disorders. They are giving training to the persons how to treat the OCD patients and also provide necessary help to make the OCD patient as one among the normal human race.

In small children it is very common and quite normal (e.g. don't step on the cracks or the bears will get you!) to have some compulsive behaviors. In both adults and children, it is only when the above criteria are fulfilled and there is a great deal of anxiety and distress associated with the thoughts and behaviors. So children also require good help from their patient by treating them very calmly. The potential for improvement with treatment is better for obsessive-compulsive personality disorder than for other personality disorders.

A combination of medication and therapy tends to yield positive results. Getting books on OCD also help both the patients and the health care providers. One book namely- ‘Freedom from Obsessive-compulsive disorder’ by Dr.Jonathan Grayson provides the sufferers make sense of their own compulsions through frank, unflinching self-evaluation-providing the tools, instructions, and knowledge for changing their cycles of overwhelming fear and endless rituals, as well as the courage to do it.

Another book called ‘Obsessive –compulsive disorder – A survival guide for family and friends’ provides answers to the question- how do I try to help someone with OCD without hurting myself? Bruce Hyman and Cherry Pedrick have created an intensive, self- directed program for the OCD sufferers in their book ‘OCD workbook’ and also teaches a person with OCD how to block or postpone rituals, reduce fears, and change unhealthy thought patterns.
